A Letter from the Artistic Director of Envision Dance Company
I am so excited for this opportunity to be the Artistic Director of Envision Dance Company. I have been teaching dance and working with young aspiring dancers for 25 years now and know I am fortunate to get to do what I love as my “job”, I can’t imagine my life without teaching dance.
I’ve been fortunate to have had the opportunity to teach and choreograph all over the country and work with some amazing faculty and students whom I have learned so much, both about dance and about life. Through these experiences, I have witnessed many styles of teaching and have gained so much knowledge and have learned to adapt my own teaching styles based on the age, level, and learning styles of each child. I have worked with very young beginner dancers, to some of the most beautiful advanced dancers I have known and all ages and levels in between.
The one commonality I see from every dancer I have worked with is they all want to feel good about themselves, and I strive to make this happen in all of my classes and rehearsals. I believe in discipline and structure within the classroom, but also know how important it is for dancers, especially children, to feel validated and a sense of pride when they leave the classroom. It is important to me, that dancers know what they have to work on to reach the next level of their training through constructive feedback, but also know they are making progress and provide them positive feedback.
At Envision Dance Company, our mission is to provide a positive environment for your child to grow and challenge themselves as a dancer and person. Through dedication, discipline and healthy constructive critiques, EDC will help build your child’s confidence and self-esteem as well as provide professional dance education to prepare for a future in professional dance. Most importantly, EDC will do this while providing a schedule that offers balance to you and your family.
